1. Parties to the Agreement
The ski instruction services are provided by the individual instructor named in the booking confirmation (“the Instructor”). The person making the booking (“the Client”) enters into a direct contract with the Instructor.
The website and booking platform act only as a technical interface and are not a party to the contract.
2. Scope of Services
The Instructor agrees to provide ski instruction for the date(s), time(s), duration, and price shown in the booking confirmation.
Instruction may include:
- technical coaching
- confidence-building or anxiety-informed teaching
- adaptive instruction
- guiding or instruction on terrain appropriate to the Instructor's qualifications and professional judgement
Each Instructor may choose whether or not to offer off-piste instruction. The booking confirmation or pre-lesson communication will clarify the type of terrain included in the lesson.
The Instructor does not provide:
- childcare
- medical services
- equipment rental
- insurance of any kind
3. Eligibility: Residency Restriction
3.1 The Instructors offering services through this website operate as independent professionals qualified, registered and insured under French law. They are not enrolled in the Albo Professionale dei Maestri di Sci of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta and are therefore only authorised to provide paid ski instruction to persons resident outside of Italy.
3.2 Accordingly, and in order to comply with Italian Law No. 81/1991(legge-quadro on the profession of maestro di sci) and the Regional Law of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta No. 1 of 21 January 2019 governing the profession of ski instructor in the region, the Instructor cannot accept bookings from, and does not market or offer its services to, persons who are resident in Italy at the time of booking, regardless of their nationality and regardless of the location at which the lesson would take place.
3.3 This website, its content, its pricing and its booking flow are directed exclusively at clients resident outside Italy. No targeted advertising, outreach, partnership, intermediary arrangement or commercial prospecting is conducted toward the Italian market or toward residents of the Valle d'Aosta. The site is published in English and French only, prices are displayed in euro for an international clientele, and travel and lodging references relate to the French side of the Mont-Blanc massif.
3.4 At the time of booking the Client must truthfully confirm, by ticking the dedicated declaration box, that they are not resident in Italy within the meaning of clause 3.5. Any booking made on the basis of a false, incomplete or misleading declaration of residency:
- is voidable by the Instructor at any time, without refund of fees already incurred for preparation, reservation costs or non-recoverable third-party charges;
- releases the Instructor from any liability arising from the impossibility of lawfully delivering the lesson; and
- shall remain the sole responsibility of the Client toward the competent Italian authorities.
3.5 For the purposes of these Terms, "resident in Italy" means a person whose habitual residence (residenza anagrafica) or principal tax residence is located in Italy at the date the booking is made, irrespective of nationality. Italian citizens whose habitual and tax residence is established outside Italy are not excluded by this clause.
3.6 Tourists and visitors whose residency as defined in clause 3.5 is outside Italy, and who happen to be physically present in Italy at the moment of booking (for example during a stay in Courmayeur), are not excluded by this clause.
3.7 Bookings made on behalf of a group. Where the Client books a lesson, course or private session for more than one participant (for example a family, a group of friends, or a corporate or professional group), the residency restriction set out in this clause 3 applies to every participant who will receive instruction, not only to the person making the booking. The Client confirms, at the time of booking, that to the best of their knowledge no participant in the group is resident in Italy within the meaning of clause 3.5, and agrees to communicate this restriction to all participants before the booking is confirmed.
3.8 Participants discovered to be resident in Italy. If, before or during the lesson, it becomes apparent that one or more participants are resident in Italy, the Instructor may, at their sole discretion:
- exclude that participant from the paid instruction while continuing the session for the remaining eligible participants; or
- where exclusion is not practical, cancel the session without refund of fees already incurred for preparation, reservation costs or non-recoverable third-party charges.
The Client acknowledges that any such decision is taken solely to comply with Italian and Valle d'Aosta regulations on the profession of ski instructor, and accepts that no compensation is due for a cancellation or exclusion made on this basis.
4. Client Responsibilities
The Client agrees to:
- arrive on time at the agreed meeting point
- wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment
- ensure their ski equipment is safe and correctly adjusted
- follow the Instructor's safety instructions at all times
- hold valid third-party liability insurance, as required by Italian law (if skiing in Italy)
- hold valid lift passes for the duration of the lesson
- truthfully declare, at the time of booking, that they are not resident in Italy within the meaning of clause 3, and immediately notify the Instructor if their residency changes before the lesson date
- where the booking covers a group, communicate the residency restriction in clause 3 to every participant and confirm that no participant is, to the Client's knowledge, resident in Italy
Children under 18 must be accompanied to the meeting point by a responsible adult.
5. Safety & Risk Acceptance
Skiing is a physical activity that carries inherent risks. By booking, the Client acknowledges that:
- they participate at their own risk
- the Instructor cannot eliminate all risks associated with skiing
- the Instructor may modify the lesson for safety reasons (weather, terrain, ability, group dynamics)
The Instructor will take all reasonable steps to ensure safety but cannot be held liable for accidents resulting from:
- unforeseeable events
- actions of third parties
- equipment failure
- failure to follow instructions
6. Insurance
The Client is responsible for ensuring they have:
- third-party liability insurance (mandatory in Italy)
- accident and rescue insurance covering skiing activities
- medical and repatriation insurance if required
The Instructor does not provide insurance and is not responsible for costs arising from accidents, injuries, or rescue services.
7. Payment Terms
- Payment is due at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- The booking is confirmed only once payment has been received.
- Prices include instruction only and do not include lift passes, equipment, insurance, or transport.
8. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Client cancellations
- More than 14 days before the lesson: full refund
- Between 14 and 7 days: 50% refund
- Less than 7 days: no refund
No refund is given for:
- late arrival
- missed lessons
- unused time
- changes in weather or snow conditions
Instructor cancellations
If the Instructor must cancel due to illness, injury, or exceptional circumstances, the Client will receive:
- a full refund, or
- the option to reschedule (subject to availability)
9. Weather, Lift Operations & Resort Conditions
Lessons take place in all weather conditions. No refund or rescheduling is provided for:
- poor visibility
- cold temperatures
- wind
- snow conditions
- partial or full lift closures
- piste closures
- delays caused by lift queues or resort operations
Clients are strongly advised to hold travel insurance that covers lift closures, piste closures, and weather-related disruptions.
10. Behaviour & Safety Compliance
The Instructor may terminate the lesson without refund if the Client:
- behaves in a way that endangers themselves or others
- is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- refuses to follow safety instructions
11. Personal Data (GDPR Compliance)
The Instructor acts as the Data Controller for all personal data provided during the booking process and the delivery of ski instruction services.
A full Privacy Policy, including details of how Google Calendar data is used when an instructor connects their calendar, is available at Privacy Policy.
What data is collected
- contact details
- booking information
- payment confirmation
- relevant safety or medical information voluntarily provided by the Client
Why data is processed (legal basis)
Under Article 6 GDPR, data is processed for:
- Contractual necessity — to deliver the ski lesson

- Legitimate interest — safety and communication
Data storage & retention
Personal data is stored securely and retained only as long as necessary to:
- deliver the service
- meet legal obligations (typically up to 6 years for accounting/tax records)
- demonstrate compliance with the Italian-residency restriction in clause 3 — visitors whose IP address geolocates to Italy have a timestamp, IP address and page reference logged when the residency warning is displayed; this audit log is retained for 2 years then automatically deleted.
Data is never sold and is only shared with:
- payment or booking platforms used by the Client
- insurers or authorities where legally required
Client rights
Clients may request:
- access to their data
- correction of inaccurate data
- deletion (where legally permissible)
- restriction or objection to processing
- data portability
Requests can be made directly to the Instructor.
Data transfers
If third-party services transfer data outside the EU, they do so under GDPR-compliant safeguards.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by French law, the Instructor's liability is limited to the amount paid for the lesson.
The Instructor is not liable for:
- injuries resulting from skiing
- loss or damage to personal property
- delays caused by traffic, lift queues, or resort operations
Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence or intentional harm.
13. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed by French law. Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of France.
14. Acceptance of Terms
By booking a lesson, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
